Everett Comedy Was Just Named Best of the Pacific Northwest. Here's Why You Should Go.

🏆 14 years of live comedy in Everett.

There are a lot of comedy shows in the Pacific Northwest.

Everett Comedy was just named Best of the Pacific Northwest!

And after spending much of 2026 photographing these shows, I can tell you: there's a reason people keep coming back.

For roughly 14 years, Cory Michaelis has been bringing stand-up comedy to Everett, creating a monthly place for local and touring comedians to get on stage and make a room full of people laugh.

I've had the pleasure of photographing Everett Comedy throughout this year, and it's given me a pretty unique perspective on what happens inside that room.

Because when you're behind a camera, you're not just watching the comedian.

You're watching everything.

What You See From the Audience

From your seat, you're watching the person on stage.

I'm watching them, too.

But I'm also watching the audience.

The person who absolutely loses it at a joke.

The person trying very hard not to laugh.

The friend who can't stop laughing after everyone else has moved on.

The comedian backstage five minutes before they're supposed to walk onstage.

The production crew making the entire night happen.

The moment immediately after a punchline lands.

The moments between performers.

All of those little pieces make up a comedy show.

And those are the things I love photographing.

A Year Behind the Camera

I've photographed Everett Comedy month after month throughout 2026, and one of the unexpected benefits has been getting to know the room.

I know the theater better now.

I know the production team.

I've started recognizing the regulars.

I've gotten to photograph comedians I've seen before and comedians I've never met until the night they walked through the door.

I've also gotten to experiment:

Different lenses. Different lighting techniques. Different ways of approaching the stage. Different ways of delivering the final galleries.

Every month gives me another opportunity to try something new.

And because the show happens in the same space, I'm forced to get creative.

I can't just take the same photograph every month.

I have to find something different.

A different expression.

A different angle.

A different interaction.

A different way to show what it felt like to be in the room.

That's one of the things I love most about photographing live entertainment.

The room might be familiar, but the night never is.

Fourteen Years of Comedy in Everett

There's also something pretty cool about photographing a show that has been part of the community for this long.

Fourteen years is a lot of comedy.

It's a lot of comedians.

A lot of audiences.

A lot of nights where someone decided to get out of the house, grab a drink, meet up with friends, and spend a few hours laughing.

That's not something you build overnight.

And now Everett Comedy has another accolade to add to the story:

Best of the Pacific Northwest.

If you've been attending for years, you probably already know why.

If you've never been? Maybe it's time to find out.

October Comedy in Everett

The next Everett Comedy show is October 24.

If you've been waiting for an excuse to finally check out the show, consider this your reminder.

Come see the comedians.

Come experience the room.

Come laugh at something you weren't expecting.

And if you've already been before, come back and see what the next lineup brings.

I'll be there with my camera, looking for the moments happening onstage and off.

Ready to see what the hype is about?

I'll see you at the theater.

And I'll probably be somewhere nearby with a camera.
